Women charged in drinking death of Chehalis teen

Sep 19, 2012, 3:44 PM | Updated: 5:31 pm

Prosecutors in Lewis County say two women are to blame for the drinking death of a Chehalis teenager.

Megan Day and Talia Date, both 22, have been charged with six counts each of furnishing liquor to a minor and seven counts reckless endangerment.

The women are accused of providing beer and liquor for an underage party where 16-year-old Tyler Gonzalez was killed.

“Tyler was intoxicated, ended up laying down in the road and was struck and killed,” said Lewis County prosecutor Jonathan Meyer. “The situation (the defendants) created was obviously a dangerous situation. Not only because underage drinking is dangerous but also because of the results that happened that night.”

Meyer said Gonzalez had a blood alcohol content of .17 at the time of his death.

The women could face up to 364 days in jail on each count.
