The investigation into hazing involving Capital High School students from Olympia during a summer basketball camp might have uncovered a long history of similar incidents that students have kept quiet for years.
One of the boys involved in the forced sexual contact at the camp this summer that got popular coach Doug Galloway fired told investigators that he was a victim of a similar incident last year.
The Olympian reports the district is now investigating other reports of inappropriate physical contact involving current and former Capital High students.
There are allegations involving the football team and even students at the middle school level.
The students told investigators they didn’t speak up before because they were afraid to tell on their teammates. Some said the hazing was a tradition at the schools.
The district upheld its firing of Coach Galloway at its board meeting on Monday.
