No comment from Kings owners on Seattle arena deal

Sep 11, 2012, 9:27 AM | Updated: 10:59 am

Now that investor Chris Hansen has reached a tentative agreement with the Seattle City Council on an arena deal, the big question now is which NBA team is a target for relocation.

The Sacramento Kings have been reported to be the most likely team to make a move. The future of the Kings has been in doubt since the Maloof family, owners of the franchise, backed out of a deal for a new arena in Sacramento.

“Their comment is the same as before – they’re not going to weigh in on every rumor,” said spokesman Eric Rose in an interview with The Sacramento Bee.

710 ESPN’s Mike Salk speculates Hansen has something worked out.

“My guess is he’s got a deal not necessarily in place, but there’s some wink, wink, nudge, nudge, ‘yeah I got a couple of ideas of people that are ready to sell’,” Salk says.

Salk says other franchises that could be candidates for a move include Atlanta and Memphis.

A recent report out of Sacramento claimed the Maloof’s recently rejected Hansen’s $400 million bid to buy the Kings. A Hansen spokesman refused to comment on the report.
