The world was watching on August 6 when the Mars rover Curiosity landed on the red planet, and now, thanks to a member of the NASA team, you can get updates on Curiosity from your phone.
The free application, dubbed Mars Images, allows iPhone, iPad, and Android users to access the latest images from the Mars rovers, Opportunity and Curiosity.
Mars Images is an unofficial NASA release, developed by Mark Powell of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, which was originally made when the rover Opportunity landed on Mars in 2004.
“It basically just shows you the very latest images from the Mars rover,” says GeekWire’s Todd Bishop.
New updates to the application have enabled users to toggle back and forth between the two rovers by scrolling through menus for each rover with the photos cataloged by date.
