Horizon Air tops in on-time performance

If you want to get to your destination on-time, Seattle-
based Horizon Air is the nation’s best for on-time
performance among North American airlines.
A new report by Portland-based
FlightStats.com says 92.7
percent of Horizon flights arrived on time in June.
Hawaiian Airlines was close behind at 93.05 percent.
Horizon’s big sister Alaska Air was tops among major
airlines, with an 88 percent on time arrival rate. US
Airways was next with flight arriving just over 85 percent
of the time. United was worst among U.S. carriers with a
69.83 percent arrival rate.
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, home base for both Alaska and Horizon,
was the nation’s third-best airport with planes taking off
85.5 percent of the time. Portland International Airport
was No. 1 at 87.12 percent and Salt Lake City
International Airport was No. 2 at 87.07 percent. The
national average was 74.82 percent.
FlightStats reports overall North American airlines on
average delivered 75.73 percent of their flights to the
arrival gate within 15 minutes of schedule in June.
That’s down a little over 3 percentage points from May.
