Whooping cough hits Everett hospital staff

Jul 4, 2012, 5:15 AM | Updated: 6:46 am

A health care worker had been given the pertussis vaccine
but still came down with the disease. It was confirmed on
Monday.

Fifty-three co-workers at the Colby Campus of Providence
Regional Medical Center in Everett were told they were
likely exposed. Another 300 were warned they could have
been exposed.

The Everett Herald
reports patients who were in the
hospital
over the last three weeks should also be aware of possible
exposure. Those patients and their doctors are being
contacted by the hospital.

There have 400 cases of whooping cough in Snohomish County
so far this year.

The number of cases in the state has grown to 2,800.
