A mentally ill man from Tukwila has died while in police
custody. His family says he was tased.
Tukwila Police say 25-year-old Victor Duffy Junior called
911 to report a family fight. Detectives say he was
threatening his family with a golf club when officers
arrived.
Duffy’s family says police got them outside and confronted
the bi-polar man. Then they heard a taser being used, but
police made no mention of a taser in their report.
A news release says Duffy broke his ankle while trying to
escape the officers, but his family says he jumped out a
window because he was afraid.
Duffy began having breathing troubles on the way to
Harborview Medical Center where he died.
The cause of death hasn’t been released.
