Two people shot in drug deal at Parkland apartment

Jun 18, 2012, 9:19 AM | Updated: 10:41 am

Two people were shot Monday morning near 138th and Pacific
Avenue in Parkland
when a meth deal turned into a gun
fight.

Detective Ed Troyer with the Pierce County Sheriff’s
Office
said three people went to the apartment to buy meth from
the
52-year-old resident. Two of the men were armed with
shotguns when they robbed the man.

“What they didn’t know was the homeowner had a semi-
automatic handgun under the pillow on his couch,” Troyer
said. “He took that out and fired multiple rounds hitting
at least one of the suspects multiple times.”

The robbers fired back at the homeowner, hitting him in
the
leg.

The 32-year-old suspect has life-threatening injuries.
The
homeowner is expected to survive. Troyer said the second
armed robber took off. The third robber, a woman, was
arrested. She was not hit in the exchange.

Detectives aren’t sure if the suspect at large was shot.
