Mariner High School parking lot shooter arrested, released on bail

Snohomish County Sherrif’s office arrested a teen who fired multiple shots at a passing vehicle from the Mariner High School parking lot on Tuesday, June 14.
After fleeing the scene on foot, the suspect was apprehended at approximately 5:50 p.m. at 2300 SW 119th Street and taken into custody.

He was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Disturbing School Activity, and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon on School Property.
A bullet hit a car with two other juveniles inside, but no one was hurt.
Deputies believe the kids involved know each other.
The suspect, a 15-year-old boy, posted the $250 bail and was released with no ankle monitor.
“I am very proud of the quick response and thorough investigative work done by our deputies,” said Sheriff Adam Fortney in a statement. “Public safety remains our top priority and the youngest members of our community deserve to always be safe at school. I am discouraged to learn the suspect was released in less than 24 hours without an ankle monitor or any additional layer of accountability and protection for our community.”
