One person was rescued after their car ended up in Lake Washington at the end of Gene Coulon Memorial Park in Renton.

Renton police first tweeted about the incident at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday and said that person was reported to be treading water.

Renton firefighters believed that there could be two people in the water, with only one visible.

Rescue swimmers and a dive team were deployed, according to the fire department.

A short time later, Renton Regional Fire Authority said swimmers reached the person in the water and brought them to shore. That person said they were the only person in the car.

Crews performed a search to confirm no one else was in the lake.

The victim was evaluated by medics and then taken to a hospital.

Renton police said it is not yet known how the car ended up in the water.
