KIRO Newsradio’s Hanna Scott reports King County Court’s sentencings from the week ending on July 22: a man is charged with malicious mischief for firing at police with a BB gun, and a woman is charged with the unlawful possession of a firearm after firing at a SeaTac parks employee.

Man charged with malicious mischief for firing BBs at police

A man has been charged with one count of malicious mischief for firing BBs at police in Beacon Hill.

He fired down on police from his third-story apartment building, shattering the back window of one of their patrol cars.

When arrested, police found a phone that was broadcasting SPD radio traffic, 6,000 rounds of BBs, nine BB gun magazines, a container holding 250 BB pellets, a CO2 canister, four BB guns, and a Crossman high-powered BB air rifle.

Along with this, they found notebooks filled with writings and drawings detailing attacks on police, weapons, stabbings, and attacks on children that the subject wanted to carry out.

Based on this information the prosecutor’s office has argued that he is a danger to the community and he is now being held on $50,000 bail.

SeaTac parks employee shot at by repeat offender

While cleaning the restrooms of a SeaTac park, a Parks Department employee was shot at by a woman approaching her with a handgun.

The woman with the gun was yelling for her kids and fired 5–6 shots, leading the employee to call the police.

When police arrived, the woman admitted to firing multiple shots.

She is currently being charged with the unlawful possession of a firearm due to three past convictions in Yakima, second-degree theft in 2018, third-degree assault in 2008, and custodial assault in 2008.

She has admitted that it is unlikely she will stop carrying weapons, despite being charged with multiple felonies, due to personal protection.

Currently, she is being held on 75,000 bail and awaiting trial.
