Investigation underway after small plane crashes in water on Alki

An investigation is underway after a small plane crashed off Alki Beach Tuesday afternoon, the Coast Guard confirmed.
The Coast Guard said the plane sunk in the water. Officials have not said what caused the plane to go down.
The pilot, a 66-year-old man, was the only person on board and was able to make it to shore.
Medics who arrived at the scene evaluated the man. He reportedly was not injured, but was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle to be checked out.
KIRO 7 received video from Mihai Melonari who captured the plane making its approach and then flipping forward, hitting the water.
