John Reed, accused of a double murder in Snohomish County, will not fight extradition from Arizona.

In a Pima County Court hearing Thursday, Reed waived his extradition rights. He will remain there, behind bars until Washington state authorities pick him up and return him for trial locally.

Reed is charged in the murders of Oso couple Monique Patenaude and Patrick Shunn. The couple and Reed were neighbors in the rural area. He now faces aggravated murder charges, which means he could face the death penalty if he’s convicted.

John Reed went on the run with his brother Tony in April when Patenaude and Shunn initially went missing. They were both charged with murder at the time.

Tony was captured in California in May. He then helped local detectives locate the bodies of the couple in the area around their home. The murder charge for Tony has since been dropped. He is now charged with criminally assisting his brother John Reed — for helping him dispose of the bodies and going on the run.

The brothers’ parents have also been charged with criminally assisting the pair as they ran from the law.
