  • Record heat on Thursday
  • Excessive heat warnings, heat advisories extended in some areas through Friday evening
  • Red flag warning extended through Thursday evening
  • Increased onshore flow Thursday night brings relief for the weekend

What goes up, must go down, and our temperatures are no exception. But we have some record heat to address on Thursday before we can soak up some relatively friendly temperatures this weekend.

The previous record high in Seattle for this day was 88 degrees in 1991. Seattle is forecast to get to 92 degrees on Thursday.

West of the Cascades, 90-degree weather will create uncomfortable heat for those outdoor or without air conditioning. Overnight temperatures offered little relief.

Heading toward the Cascades, not only are we keeping a close eye on light shower activity Thursday morning (storm potential could trigger thunder/lightning and with plenty of fire fuel in the area, wildfire concerns are high) but triple-digit temps are one of the big weather headlines for the day.

Both heat advisories in the west and excessive heat warnings in the east have been extended through Friday evening in some areas although increased onshore flow Friday will usher cooler air into the area, keeping temperatures in the low 80s through the weekend/early next week.
