Comic fans and talent converge in Seattle for Emerald City Comicon

Don’t be alarmed if you see costumed characters walking
the streets of Seattle this weekend. Emerald City Comicon is playing host to
fans and comic talent at the Washington State Convention
Center March 30 through April 1.
This will be Emerald City Comicon’s tenth year in Seattle.
“It’s our biggest one yet,” said Emerald City Comicon
Director George Demonakos, in an appearance on 97.3 KIRO FM’s GeekWire Show. “We’re
really excited.”

For people coming to the show, Demonakos said, “I think
their lives will be remarkably better.” He’s particularly
excited for the Star Wars radio play.
“[Voice actors] will be reading Star Wars segments but in
the voices of characters that they do, so they will do
Chewbacca let’s say in the voice of Raphael from the
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, or do C3PO as Bender, the
bending robot.”
“Our show is full of some of the greatest celebrities,
comic artists, writers, panelists and programming
exhibitors that you could find anywhere in the country.”
Celebrities from current hits including “The Walking
Dead,” “Harry Potter,” and classic cast members from “Star
Trek,” and “Back to the Future,” will be in attendance,
but Demonakos said it’s not all about the stars.
“The celebrities is what gets a lot of the ink, but to be
honest they’re only one small part of the show,” said
Demonakos. “It’s the Emerald City Comicon. Our entire show
floor, all the exhibitors, the artist alleys, it’s all
about comics.”
“As a guy from a comic book store, as a comic book fan, I
wanted to start a comic book show, and that’s what I
created.”
770 KTTH host David Boze will be serving as host for several presentations at the event, including the Talkin’ Dead panel discussion on Saturday at
1 p.m, A Conversation with Summer Glau on Sunday at 11 a.m. and Adam Baldwin: From Firefly to Chuck and Beyond! at noon on Sunday.
