Tacoma man charged with child molestation

A Tacoma man has now been charged with sexually assaulting a developmentally disabled girl who also had cancer.

Michael H. Bond, 53, was charged Tuesday with child molestation, unlawful imprisonment and resisting arrest.

According to court documents, the 15-year-old victim suffered from “psychological issues” and had gotten off her bus against the driver’s orders Monday afternoon.

“The victim got lost as she was going from one bus stop to another in downtown Tacoma and the defendant lured her to his apartment where he allegedly groped her and kept her against her will,” said Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist.

Bond told the girl he would take care of her and promised to give her alcohol and marijuana, Lindquist said.

Eventually, the girl found Bond’s cell phone and called her father, according to court documents. She told him she was afraid because she did not know where she was.

Police arrived at Bond’s apartment in the 800 block of South Yakima Avenue where they attempted to take him into custody. According to police, Bond was drunk and resisted arrest. He denied sexually assaulting the girl and told investigators he just offered her a place to stay.

“All I did was help some young girl,” he told police. “I would do it again.”
