Washington senator candidates Patty Murray (D) and Tiffany Smiley (R) will formally participate in a one-hour Town Hall, airing on KIRO 7 and streaming on its digital platforms Sunday, Oct. 30, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.

During the Town Hall, candidates will answer live questions asked by residents, including those representing the League of Women Voters of Washington Education Fund, Northwest African American Museum, and the Ethnic Chamber of Commerce Coalition.

Bryan Suits, host of the Bryan Suits Show on KTTH, disagreed with the decision to pivot from a debate to a town hall forum, citing a statement from Alicia Crank, the executive director of Seattle CityClub.

“This final decision is unprecedented for the coalition and is a huge loss for the voters of Washington state who deserved to hear from officials seeking nationalist statewide office,” Suits said, reading Crank’s statement. “Participating in debates every six years with a coalition of media outlets and partners from around the state is not an unreasonable ask. We’re disappointed that Senator Murray feels otherwise.”

Seattle CityClub is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that promotes engagement between residents and community leaders.

“I’m with her, I’m cranky Bryan on that one,” Suits continued. “Is this fraudulent? And if we reach out to the Murray campaign and just simply asked for an explanation, it would just be like, well it’s a busy re-election season and the Senator is busy. By the way, senate is not in session right now.”
