Rantz: Patty Murray mocked for claiming smoky air from human-caused fire is climate change

Senator Patty Murray is desperate and her latest exploitative, dishonest tweets make the point. They’re nothing but aggressively ignorant fear-mongering.
The 72-year-old incumbent Democrat tweeted her dismay at the state’s poor air quality. It was the perfect opportunity to establish herself as a climate change warrior. Only the most ignorant voter could be moved by this.
“For the second day in a row, Seattle has some of the worst air quality in the world. The air outside isn’t safe—especially for our kids. Let me be absolutely clear: climate change is a crisis that is hurting all of us,” Murray tweeted in a short thread. “I’m proud to have helped pass the most significant climate action in history. Extreme national Republicans would undo the critical steps we’ve taken to fight climate change today and for our kids and grandkids. This November, climate is on the ballot.”
These tweets are next-level nonsense.
Murray failed to mention, of course, that the poor air quality resulted from the Bolt Creek Fire. The fire is human-caused. And we’re allowing it to burn. This fire has, quite literally, no connection to climate change. She doesn’t even mention the smoke is the reason for the worst air quality. To an outsider, you’d think we live in a state so polluted that no one could breathe on any given day.
This claim immediately generated mockery.
