Obama praises Everett Boeing worker for good quote

Feb 17, 2012, 12:59 PM | Updated: 2:22 pm

“We said we would do it, and we did.” It might become President Obama’s campaign slogan, and if it does he can thank a Boeing worker.

Sharon O’Hara came up with the quote as she watched the 787’s first flight in 2009.

It has served as motivation for O’Hara as she battled cancer and even underwent a stem cell transplant last year.

The president singled her out in his speech on the Boeing factory floor Friday afternoon.

She said she wasn’t expecting the hug that came after.

“I didn’t know he was going to ask where I was,” she says. “Then when I got up there, and they said ‘This is Sharon O’Hara.’ He says, ‘Good job […] great quote.’ He was great. It was great.”

She said she was on “Cloud 9.”

O’Hara recently found out from her doctors that she can finally return to work.
