Detectives appear to be gathering compelling evidence of misconduct in their case against Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon.

Detectives appear to be gathering compelling evidence of misconduct in their case against Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon.

A State Patrol source tells The Seattle Times detectives have no doubt that Executive Reardon was having an affair with a Snohomish County social worker.

State Patrol investigators have been pouring over plane tickets, expense reports, phone records and other receipts. They have reportedly found evidence that appears to back up her claims.

The woman who says she had the six-year affair with Reardon estimates he spent at least $1,500 of taxpayer money on her when she accompanied him on official trips.

Tamara Dutton says she was uncomfortable with the spending and went to officials last October to protect herself after the relationship cooled and others started talking about it.

Dutton told KING TV she’s cooperating with the Washington State Patrol investigation and providing details about trips she took with Reardon in 2007 to Washington, D.C., and 2010 to Chicago.

The case has also expanded to determine if Reardon and his staff used his office and county resources to campaign during his re-election bid last fall. That is illegal.

Reardon has refused to talk about the investigation, but he says he has done nothing wrong.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
