I will not violate the Constitution
Aug 16, 2016, 5:10 PM
I was reading the Bible on Sunday morning. I don’t mean to turn you off if you’re not a religious person but it’s an important thing for me.
And I’ve thought about the fact that if the Supreme Court pretends that the Second Amendment doesn’t mean that individuals have the right to firearms, I’m going to have to defy the law. But then I read in the book of Romans that it says we need to be subject to the authorities. And it says our leaders are instituted by God.
This also made me think about many of my other positions, including being opposed to pharmacists being forced to sell an abortion pill.
Now, our founders were imperfect men. But if we were to follow a ruling from the current Supreme Court that went against the founding fathers, we would be going against the ultimate authority of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
I deeply respect the governing authority of this nation; that’s you. And I deeply respect the Constitution that embodies that governing authority. And I will not violate the Constitution.
