In an exclusive interview with KIRO 7 News, Jackson’s cousin said he was that “go to” protector of the family for absolutely everything.

“He was just kind of bulletproof,” said Hanna Massong. “We would throw all our problems onto him, and go to him for advice and go to him for support.”

Yet in a week as sad as this one, Massong and her family are now getting support in Jackson’s memory.

Outside Bellevue Police headquarters is a motorcycle memorial in his honor.

“He wasn’t scared of anything. He looked fear in the face and took it on,” Massong told KIRO 7.

Jackson died following a motorcycle collision in the 500 block of Bellevue Way Southeast.

“It was determined that the Bellevue police motorcycle Officer Jordan Jackson was traveling northbound on Bellevue Way and a vehicle entered Bellevue Way SE from a parking lot on the east side of the road which the motorcycle officer struck,” WSP Trooper Rick Johnson said in a news release Monday night.

He was transported to Harborview Medical Center, where he later died.

Johnson said that so far, the investigation has shown that impairment and speed were not factors in the crash.

Jackson had been a member of the Bellevue Police Department since 2018.

He spent two years on the force before transferring to the traffic unit as a motorcycle officer.

“We are devastated by Officer Jackson’s tragic death,” said Bellevue Police Chief Wendell Shirley. “Our hearts go out to his wife, two children, his family and friends, and extended BPD family as they grieve. This is a huge loss for the entire community.”

Before joining the Bellevue Police Department, Jackson was an EMT, volunteer firefighter and a member of the King County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Volunteer K-9 Unit.

He was recently honored as employee of the quarter “for his excellent quality of work and service to the community,” according to Bellevue police.

Both directions of Bellevue Way between Southeast Wolverine Way and Southeast Sixth Street were closed while detectives investigated the scene.

The WSP Major Accident Investigation Team is continuing to investigate. Troopers are asking anyone who witnessed the collision to contact the WSP.

The Bellevue Police Foundation is now accepting donations to support Jackson’s family. To donate, visit this website.
