Washington celebrates July 4th with parades, picnics, fireworks

People across the Puget Sound region took to the picture-perfect day and celebrated July 4th with abandon.

There were parades, fun runs, balloons, bouncy houses, and a large number of barbecues.

In Edmonds, thousands turned out for a parade through downtown and along the Puget Sound to celebrate the unofficial start of summer in the Pacific Northwest.

That event in Edmonds also included appearances by Washington gubernatorial candidates Democrat Bob Ferguson and Republican Dave Reichert.

KIRO Newsradio’s Chris Sullivan was in Ocean Park for that city’s Fourth of July parade and captured on video a helicopter flying over the area, area marching bands and adorable dogs dressed up for the event.

Fireworks shows took place across Western Washington as well. The following is a list Shawn Garrett of KIRO 7 compiled.
