Local drivers get personalized traffic via WSDOT’s twitter

Aug 5, 2011, 3:40 PM | Updated: Oct 10, 2012, 7:28 am

Whether it’s driving times or border waits, with just a
quick twitter message to WSDOT, you can find out the best
way to go.

An engineer has come up with a way to link WSDOT’s data
with twitter, so it can send you personalized information
with a single direct message.

“So essentially, you could ask what’s the travel time
between Bellevue and Seattle, and within three minutes
you’ll get a message telling you which bridge is best,”
says Jeremy Bertrand with WSDOT.

Along with Seattle area travel times, you can also get
pass reports, border wait times and even airport weather.

If you don’t use twitter, don’t feel left out. You can
also get the instant updates sent to your mobile phone via
text messages.

You can find the WSDOT guide on their
website.
