King County prosecutors allege that a local cannabis business paid a man $1,000 to damage a competitor’s billboard.

Cameron Scott O’Neill, 28, is accused of using a box cutter to vandalize the billboard last September in the 12800 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way South in Seattle, which advertised Evergreen Market Cannabis.

Court documents include screenshots of text messages O’Neill allegedly sent in a group chat, showing a before-and-after comparison of the billboard. In the after image, prosecutors say O’Neill appears in the foreground holding hundred-dollar bills and what is believed to be the box cutter.

O’Neill is charged with second-degree malicious mischief. He is also facing charges in four separate graffiti cases, to which he has pleaded not guilty. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 21 for the billboard case.
