Renton teen allegedly shoots at SWAT to thwart friend’s arrest

A 16-year-old boy is facing charges after allegedly shooting at undercover SWAT officers in Renton who were trying to arrest an 18-year-old for a recent drive-by shooting.
The teen shot at law enforcement from inside a car next to multiple people, according to KOMO News. Prosecutors said the teen fired directly at SWAT through the car’s windshield, in what authorities believe was an attempt to thwart the arrest of his 18-year-old friend.
Surprisingly, no officers were injured by the gunfire. After detaining the 16-year-old and searching the vehicle, police found at least three firearms.

The 16-year-old is being held at the Judge Patricia H. Clark Children and Family Justice Center. He is charged with second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
His 18-year-old companion faces multiple felony charges, including first-degree assault.
