No injuries reported after multiple house fires break out in Pierce, King counties

Multiple unconnected fires broke out early Friday morning, one at an apartment complex in Pierce County and the other being a house fire in King County.
Early morning fire in Puyallup
Huge flames erupted from a two-alarm fire that broke out in an apartment complex in Puyallup early Friday morning.
At approximately 2:45 a.m., a heavy fire broke out at an apartment unit on Ninth Street S.E., near State Route 512 and about seven blocks east of the Washington State Fairgrounds.
When crews arrived, they found flames and thick smoke emanating from the front door and the back patio. Firefighters from Central Pierce Fire & Rescue’s Engine 73 entered the unit and started an aggressive operation to extinguish the fires.
No injuries were reported.

Firefighters also entered several other units adjacent to the apartment that caught fire to ensure the flames didn’t spread through the attic space.
“The fire was kept to the originating unit with minimal damage to the adjoining units,” East Fire & Rescue stated on X.
Crews from East Pierce Fire & Rescue and Riverside Fire & Rescue assisted firefighters from Central Pierce Fire & Rescue at the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Two-alarm house fire in Normandy Park
Early Friday morning, a second fire broke out, this time in Normandy Park.
A house caught fire in the 18500 block of Normandy Terrace SW, prompting a two-alarm response. King County Fire District 2 and Puget Sound Fire crews responded alongside King County Medic One and Zone 3 Fire Cadets.
“The fire extended into the roof structure, which contained rigid foam insulation,” fire officials stated. “Firefighters used chainsaws to open up the roof in order to extinguish the fire.”
According to the response team, the fire took more than 90 minutes to extinguish.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
