‘A disturbing pattern’: Everett bar owner sentenced to 109 years for rape, child porn

A former Everett bar owner was sentenced to 109 years in prison after he was convicted of raping multiple customers and other people he was familiar with.
Christian Sayre, 39, was convicted on 16 felony charges, including rape and indecent liberties involving both adult and child victims. Sayre, who used to own the Anchor Pub in Everett, and his legal team had been fighting the charges for nearly a decade before his conviction was handed down.
“Today’s sentencing reflects the gravity of Christian Sayre’s crimes and honors the strength of the survivors who came forward to ensure he was held accountable,” Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin said in an official release. “This case is a stark reminder of the importance of victim advocacy, trauma-informed investigations, and the power of perseverance in the pursuit of justice.”
He is also facing charges of sexual assault in Hillsboro County, Oregon, where he will be extradited for those charges at a later date.
Background on Sayre’s charges
The Everett Police Department launched an investigation into Sayre after DNA evidence linked him to a 2020 sexual assault case. The investigation, which began in September 2021, led police to uncover a “disturbing pattern of predatory behavior” over the previous two decades. Dozens of potential victims were revealed throughout the investigation.
“During the investigation, authorities recovered a notebook listing over 30 women, along with hard drives containing child pornography,” the Everett Police Department stated. “Several of the women named in Sayre’s notes came forward and reported assaults, some dating as far back as 2001.”
Throughout four separate trials, Sayre was convicted on a total of 16 felony charges, including multiple counts of rape and indecent liberties involving both adult and minor victims.
“Detective Susan Logothetti’s tireless investigative work was instrumental in bringing Christian Sayre to justice,” Everett Police Chief John DeRousse stated. “This was one of the most complex and disturbing cases our department has handled, and I want to commend our entire team, along with our regional partners, for their exceptional professionalism and dedication. Above all, I want to thank the survivors for their courage.”
2017 sexual assault case
One of the sexual assault incidents Sayre was convicted of occurred in 2017, starting when a woman began flirting with Sayre while at the Anchor Pub. She was allegedly a regular at the bar, and eventually went over to his house with some of her friends. After the others left, she and Sayre began making out, according to court documents obtained by The Everett Herald.
The woman revealed, while under cross-examination, that she initially intended to sleep with Sayre, but became uncomfortable as things escalated. She allegedly told him “too much” multiple times, according to her testimony.
In 2021, she learned police were investigating Sayre over other charges, including sexual assault, and contacted them, revealing what allegedly happened to her.
