The Federal Way Police Department is investigating what appears to be some kind of car explosion Friday morning.

The incident happened near S. 308th Street, just east of 20th Avenue S. in Federal Way. Pieces of the car can be seen scattered across the road.

“Investigators have been combing this scene, flashlights in hand. You see all the debris, but also the car there at the top of the driveway is completely burnt out, exploded,” KIRO 7 reporter Eric Thomas stated. “Also, the car behind it had its windshield damaged and broken. We also heard that some residents had some glass shatter around their homes, and I can tell you, it’s a quiet neighborhood.”

Approximately six police cruisers have arrived at the scene. Members of a bomb squad also arrived at the scene.

No injuries have been reported, as of this reporting.

“It’s all these shards of metal everywhere, and it looks like it would look it was definitely an explosion,” KIRO Newsradio reporter Luke Duecy reported live on scene. “We don’t have that officially from Federal Way Police yet. The bomb squad is here as well, but it is clear that something blew up inside that car.”

Police have visited the house where the car that exploded was many times previously, according to Duecy.

“I’ve never seen anything like this,” Duecy reported. “This is something out of the movies.”
