Police say a DUI suspect who sped off after being pulled over by a state trooper caused a deadly crash in Everett.

The trooper made the traffic stop in south Everett around 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

The officer suspected the driver of being impaired.

That’s when the DUI suspect suddenly floored it and drove off, in the northbound direction.

Moments later, Everett police say the vehicle crashed into a building on Rucker Ave., near 43rd St. S.E.

There were two men in the car.

Medics pronounced one of them dead at the scene.

The crash left the other man injured.

An ambulance transported him to the hospital.

A statement released on Everett Police Department’s Facebook page does not specify whether it was the driver, or the passenger, who was killed in the crash.

The deadly collision resulted in the closure of Rucker Ave. in both directions for at least a couple of hours.

Detectives with the Everett Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit processed the scene after the crash.
