While late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel is returning to the air tonight for most people across the nation, those in Seattle will not be able to see Kimmel’s return.

Sinclair Broadcast Group announced that it will not be airing Jimmy Kimmel Live! on any of its 38 ABC affiliates, including Seattle’s KOMO-TV. Sinclair said, in a statement, that it will be preempting Jimmy Kimmel Live!, airing news programming instead.

“Discussions with ABC are ongoing as we evaluate the show’s potential return,” a Sinclair spokesperson told CNN.

ABC suspended Kimmel indefinitely after comments he made about Kirk, who was killed Sept. 10, in a monologue. Kimmel said “many in MAGA land are working very hard to capitalize on the murder of Charlie Kirk” and that “the MAGA gang” was “desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them.”

“Frankly, when you see stuff like this, I mean, look, we can do this the easy way or the hard way,” Brendan Carr, the chair of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), said when Kimmel was initially suspended. “These companies can find ways to change conduct, to take action, or there’s going to be additional work for the FCC ahead.”

Sinclair wants Kimmel to apologize to Charlie Kirk’s family and make a “meaningful personal donation” to both them and Kirk’s nonprofit company, Turning Point USA.

ABC stated on Monday that “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” would return after the network had “thoughtful conversations” with the host.

Kimmel has hosted “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on ABC since 2003 and has been a fixture in television and comedy for even longer. He is also well known as a presenter, having hosted the Academy Awards four times.

In response to his indefinite suspension, hundreds of people in the entertainment industry signed a letter circulated by the American Civil Liberties Union, calling ABC’s move “a dark moment for freedom of speech in our nation.” Republican Sen. Ted Cruz said that Carr acted like “a mafioso,” according to The Associated Press.

No guests have been announced for tonight’s show.
