Seattle firefighters battled a fire in the city’s South Delridge neighborhood Monday morning.

The fire broke out in a vacant building along 16th Avenue S.W., prompting crews to take a defensive position and douse the flames from a safe distance.

As a precaution, nearby homes are being evacuated. Residents are advised to stay away from the area while emergency teams work to contain the fire.

“They are in a defensive position putting water on the fire at a safe distance away from the building,” the Seattle Fire Department (SFD) reported on X.

By just after 9 a.m., SFD confirmed that the fire was under control, with no reported injuries.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, as of this reporting.
