A 33-year-old man carrying a hatchet, a knife, and drugs was arrested Tuesday night in downtown Seattle, police said.

Officers patrolling an alleyway behind the Smith Tower found the man trespassing, according to police. While speaking with him, officers spotted a small plastic bag containing white powder that they suspected was narcotics.

“According to the police report, ‘The alleyway in question had a large sign posted on the south entrance declaring it was closed to members of the public, and a fence blocking the north entrance,'” a post on the Seattle Police Blotter stated.

SPD officers seize narcotics, weapons from suspect

Police arrested the man and discovered he was carrying a hatchet, a knife, methamphetamine, cocaine, and drug paraphernalia.

They took him to jail, but the staff refused to book him due to medical reasons. Police then took him to Harborview Medical Center and released him.

“Officers referred criminal charges to the Seattle City Attorney’s Office for Criminal Trespass, Narcotics Possession, and Unlawful Use of Weapons,” the post said.
