An improvised explosive device (IED) was discovered in a Burien garage Wednesday.

The King County Bomb Disposal Unit has rendered the device safe, according to the Burien Police Department. There is no active threat to the public.

The device was initially found by a cleaning crew, who called police to report a suspicious package. The IED was in a garage in a home located on S.W. 149th Street and 22nd Avenue S.W.

“Burien police secured the street from any pedestrian traffic,” the Burien Police Department stated. “The King County Bomb Disposal Unit was called to assist at the scene and identified the package as an improvised explosive device.”
