Seattle middle school locks down after 2 found shot in nearby apartment complex

A shooting in Seattle’s Central District that left a man and a woman with several gunshot wounds forced a nearby middle school into lockdown on Tuesday.
At approximately 2:45 p.m., Seattle Police Department (SPD) officers responded to a shooting in the 2000 block of S. Jackson Street, SPD announced.
At the scene, officers located a man and a woman inside a third-floor apartment, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. SPD provided emergency medical treatment to both victims.
Once the Seattle Fire Department (SFD) arrived, they took over care of the victims. SFD transported the victims to Harborview Medical Center, with the woman in serious condition and the man in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

SPD noted the suspects are believed to be a man and a woman who fled the area on foot before officers could arrive.
An SPD K9 team was deployed and attempted to track down the suspects, though officers did not locate them. SPD did not make any arrests.
A nearby middle school placed its students on lockdown during the emergency response as a precaution, and later lifted the lockdown once officers safely secured the area.
SPD is currently investigating the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
