Get your spring buzz: Where to find a fresh, flavorful energy boost in the Seattle area

Mar 21, 2026, 5:00 AM

Seattle is already known for being a sleepy city. This is especially true after daylight saving time, which hit the whole region like a brick.

Thankfully, we live in one of the most caffeinated regions in the world. These are some of my favorite spots to visit whenever I need a tasty energy boost.

Café Spot in Federal Way

South Korea is famous for its café culture. You can now experience an authentic one in Café Spot in Federal Way. It has one of my favorite interiors of any business with its minimalist design and open lighting. This is perfect for a study spot or a productive work session.

I love the drink selection here, as they have unique ones that almost no other café has. Coffees, lattes, lemonades, yogurt drinks, and teas can all be found here. I recommend the Einspanner, Dalgona Latte, Blue Lemonade, and Peach Yogurt Smoothie. Make sure you finish it off with one of their famous desserts. Macarons, cheesecakes, chubby waffles, shaved ice, and the famous honey bread are a delightful treat. This is the K-drama-coded café of your dreams.

Meet Fresh in Bellevue

I love a spot that offers a variety of caffeinated drinks. At Meet Fresh, you can find coffee, milk teas, fruit teas, and herbal teas. This is a must-try as Meet Fresh is one of the biggest chains out of Taiwan, the home of milk tea!

The first Meet Fresh originated from Taichung, where milk tea was invented, and now has 800 locations worldwide. All the milk teas taste authentic. My favorites were the Tiramisu Milk Tea, Boba and Lychee Milk Tea, Taro Fresh Milk Tea, and Mango Green Tea. Make sure you save room for dessert, too. Grass jelly, rice soup, shaved ice, soft serve, egg waffles, and mochi are all solid options.

No need to fly to Taiwan when you have Meet Fresh right here.

Artly Coffee in Seattle

I swear I am telling the truth when one of the best cups of coffee I have had in Seattle was made by a robot. At Artly Coffee, your coffee is made by a Barista Bot who is programmed to make almost 20 different kinds of coffee and matcha. Make sure to sample it as the owner, Joe Yang, has won national awards for his latte art. A human worker will still take your order and prepare your food.

Espresso, lattes, and matcha are the main forms of coffee drinks available. I found the flat white, Guihua latte, Espresso Martini, and Coconut Matcha Cloud especially enjoyable.
The robot barista makes for a great spectacle. The best part is that every drink is consistently good as they follow an AI program. Pair your drink with some mochi donuts or macarons in its gorgeous interior.

Drip Drip Coffeehouse in Seattle

One of the most renowned countries for coffee is Vietnam. Their coffee is known for the use of sweet condensed milk and concentrated coffee. This leads to a thicker cream and a chocolatey taste. The Puget Sound region has a lot of good Vietnamese cafes, and one of my favorites is Drip Drip Coffeehouse.

It can be hard to choose just one drink, but Drip Drip has you covered with its coffee and matcha flights! You can sample four different types of lattes with each one. My favorite ones included the Crème Brulee Coffee, Matcha Pandan Coffee, and Matcha Ube Latte.

They also have Bao and Banh Mi for a low price to pair with your drink. Enjoy it all in a cute and festive setting.

The ‘rockets and feathers’ effect: Inflation eases but grocery bills do not

Economics has a term for what U.S. grocery prices have done in recent years: rockets and feathers. Rockets, because the cost of food eaten at home zoomed up in the aftermath of the pandemic. Feathers, because once prices rise, they’re slow to come down. That’s been frustrating for Americans hit with the sharpest increase in […]
