Public health officials are warning residents of potential measles exposures in Bellevue, northeast Seattle, and on public transit after confirming a measles case in a King County infant.

Public Health — Seattle & King County said the child, who had not yet been vaccinated, was likely exposed to measles during recent international travel. The infant was infectious while visiting several public locations earlier this month, including grocery stores, restaurants, medical facilities, and public transit. Health officials stressed that measles can spread before symptoms appear.

Officials said the case is not connected to earlier measles infections reported locally this year. Including this case, Washington has reported at least 33 measles cases in 2026, according to public health data.

Most people in King County are vaccinated and immune, lowering the overall risk to the public. However, measles is highly contagious and can linger in the air for up to two hours after an infected person leaves an area. Health officials urged anyone who was at any of the listed locations during the specified times to verify their vaccination status and watch for symptoms through April 29.

Locations of potential measles exposure

According to Public Health — Seattle & King County, the infant may have exposed others at the following locations while infectious:

  • April 3, 8–10:15 a.m. — Safeway, 1645 140th Avenue N.E, Bellevue
  • April 3, 6–10:30 p.m. — King County Metro Bus Route 250
  • April 3, all day — Link light rail 2 Line
  • April 5, all day — Link light rail 2 Line and Metro Bus Route 250
  • April 5, 2–6 p.m. — Supreme Dumplings, 14603 N.E. 20th Street No. 4B, Bellevue
  • April 8, 2:55–6:40 p.m. — Seattle Children’s Hospital, 4500 40th Avenue N.E., Seattle
    • Forest B parking garage, elevators, pharmacy, lobby, and hallway to the emergency department
