Firefighters have determined a lit cigarette caused a fire that damaged two townhouses Tuesday afternoon in Lynnwood.

Firefighters with South County Fire were first called to respond to the fire at approximately 4 p.m. near 164th Street and 4th Avenue W. in Lynnwood. When they arrived, crews saw flames that reached 30 feet high.

The fire took nearly 30 minutes to extinguish. While everyone in the complex got out safely, 13 people were displaced. Two of the six units were completely damaged, while the other four units suffered some additional damage.
