After more than 20 nuisance calls spanning several weeks, officers with the Marysville Police Department cleared a home occupied by squatters who were throwing large late-night parties on a regular basis.

The home, located on the 8300 block of 39th Street N.E. in Marysville, was the subject of several nuisance calls, with neighbors reporting loud noise, large gatherings, and illegal activity, including bottles being thrown and people peeing in front yards of neighboring houses. Some nearby residents were even concerned about more dangerous activity, including drunk driving throughout the residential area. The parties were predominantly attended by teenagers.

“Literally, a kid overdosed right here, threw up in my driveway and told police he was on drugs,” one anonymous neighbor told KOMO News.

When officers broke up the parties, citations were issued for any violations, but the parties kept returning.

The Marysville Police Department learned the home in question is currently owned by an Arizona-based company. According to KOMO News, the occupants inside the home claimed they had been defrauded in a lease agreement. But officers discovered conflicting reports regarding who was renting the property. The occupants declined to provide written statements to the police.

In coordination with the owner, the department obtained “no trespassing” authorization and evicted the occupants, in addition to changing the locks and securing the property.

The occupants of the home are facing potential charges, including furnishing alcohol to minors, operating without a business license, and violating noise mandates. Additionally, the landlord plans to pursue a civil eviction.
