Firefighters from several South King County departments attempted a river rescue at the Green River Gorge on Saturday.
Crews responded to reports of a person in distress at the river at the bottom of a steep slope.
Rescuers immediately went to work setting up multiple rope systems on the hillside.
After crews reached the victim, they moved the person from the riverbank up through the steep terrain to the parking lot above the area.
Paramedics and firefighters gave the person lifesaving first aid.
But unfortunately, the victim did not survive.
Several fire departments conducted the rescue attempt.
They included Mountain View Fire & Rescue, Puget Sound Fire, Enumclaw Fire Department, Valley Regional Fire Authority, South King Fire and Rescue, and King County Medic One.
