Beloved pho restaurant closing on Bainbridge Island after nearly 20 years

A beloved pho restaurant that has served the Bainbridge Island community for nearly two decades is closing its doors as its longtime owner has decided to retire.

Thuy’s Phó House, a neighborhood staple known for its pho, dim sum, and bubble tea, is closing after owner and chef Thuy Nguyen decided to step away and spend more time with her growing family, according to a post from the restaurant on Instagram.

Nguyen opened first cafe in 2008 before launching pho restaurant

Nguyen first opened Cafe at the Pavilion in 2008, followed by Roosters, before eventually launching Thuy’s Phó House.

The restaurant reflected on Nguyen’s gratitude for the nearly two decades she spent serving the Bainbridge Island community, noting that she had the privilege of watching it grow and change around her as the restaurant became a gathering place for families.

“Along the way, she has watched children grow into adults, welcomed generations of families through her doors, celebrated countless milestones, and built friendships that will last a lifetime,” the post stated. “The faces that first walked in as customers became friends, and over the years, many became family.”

The restaurant also thanked the Bainbridge Island community for welcoming Nguyen’s small family business.

“To the Bainbridge Island community, thank you,” the post stated. “Thank you for welcoming Thuy, supporting a small family business, and allowing her to be a small part of your lives. Your kindness, loyalty, and friendships have meant more than words can express.”

Nguyen’s last day will be Sept. 8, and the restaurant encouraged anyone who shares a special memory with her to stop by to share one last meal.

“From the bottom of her heart, thank you for allowing Thuy to be part of your lives,” the post stated. “It has truly been the honor of a lifetime.”
