The man accused of hitting and killing a motorcyclist before leaving the scene has turned himself in, according to Washington State Patrol (WSP).

On Aug. 11, a minivan on SR 525 in Mukilteo was turning left and hit a motorcyclist in the oncoming lane.

Investigators said the driver left the scene after hitting the motorcyclist.

The cyclist, Jeff Woods, was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Jeff would touch the hearts of people on a daily basis – everybody he met,” said Tyson Dunn, owner of Tyson Remodel.

Dunn said he got a call from Woods’ wife shortly after the crash.

“It was awful,” said Dunn.

Dunn said Woods was a beloved friend, husband, and father to seven kids.

“Loved his kids, always took care of them, always there for them, trying to do more for them,” said Dunn.

Dunn has set up a GoFundMe account to help the family cover costs as they deal with tragedy.

“Just getting it out there for them because Jeff was the breadwinner for the family.”

On Aug. 14, WSP told KIRO 7 that the 38-year-old driver turned himself in.

It’s unclear if drugs or alcohol were involved, WSP said.

He was booked into Snohomish County Jail for hit-and-run death.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
