Commercial real estate firm Kidder Mathews has announced that Everett’s Trinity Lutheran Church is seeking a buyer.

The property is at 2324 Lombard Ave., adjacent to Clark Park and near downtown Everett. Kidder Mathews Senior Vice President Steve Pelluer and Associate Vice President Zeke Pelluer are representing the congregation.

The organization, founded in 1904 as St. Paul Lutheran Church, became Trinity English Lutheran Church in 1914. It was Everett’s first Lutheran congregation to worship in English rather than serve a specific immigrant community. In 2009, Trinity became a Reconciling in Christ congregation, publicly affirming that it welcomed the LGBTQ+ community, according to a Kidder Mathews press release.

Today, the 0.41-acre property provides meeting space for 12-step recovery groups and hosts a weekly aid bank for neighbors in need. Narcotics Anonymous and other recovery groups have met there since 1979, and the aid bank distributes food, clothing, toiletries, blankets, and other essentials every Friday.

The property comprises 9,644 square feet of church space and a 4,084-square-foot administration building. Features include sanctuary seating for around 200, classrooms, offices, large meeting rooms, a duo of kitchens, fellowship and dining halls, ADA lifts, a garden, about 18 parking stalls, and additional street parking. Trinity representatives said in the release that they hope the new owner will continue to permit recovery meetings and aid-bank resources.

“The sale creates uncertainty for the programs and people who rely on this space,” said Pastor Tim Feiertag in the release. “We hope to find a buyer who recognizes their importance and wants to continue them here, or support a thoughtful transition if they need to find new homes.”

Pelluer noted that it’s rare for properties to have the church’s same combination of community significance, flexibility, character, and history.

“Trinity has created a place where people have found connection, support, and essential services for generations,” he said in the release. “We share the congregation’s intention to find the right buyer, who will honor that legacy and carry its spirit of service forward.”
