The Lodge at St. Edwards Park announced it will lay off 86 employees by the end of October, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN).

The layoffs will begin Oct. 30. The Lodge is owned and operated by Columbia Hospitality, a hospitality management and consultancy provider based in Kenmore. The 86 employees affected are both full- and part-time workers.

“The layoff is due to the closure of The Lodge at St. Edward Park due to construction and renovations expected to exceed at least one year,” Hugo Moreno, the Chief People Officer for Columbia Hospitality, stated. “The layoff is not due to a relocation or due to contracting out employer operations or employee positions.”

The Lodge at St. Edward State Park first opened in 2021, converting a historic Catholic seminary building built in 1931 in Kenmore into an 84-room luxury hotel. According to The Puget Sound Business Journal, the developer, Kevin Daniels, launched a $40 million renovation last month centered on a Nordic wellness experience through thermal therapy.

The Lodge will temporarily close on Nov. 1 for these renovations.

Last week, the company ranked No. 22 in The Puget Sound Business Journal’s annual “Washington’s Best Workplaces” list for 2026 for medium-sized companies.
