A $30,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest in the fatal shooting of U.S. Coast Guard Lt. Connor Overstreet in Skyway.

The King County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a homicide investigation into the Aug. 23 shooting. According to the office, deputies responded to reports of a shooting near 124th Street and South Langston in the early morning hours, where emergency responders attempted to perform life-saving measures on Overstreet in the middle of the road.

Overstreet died from a single gunshot wound.

Days after his death, Crime Stoppers and Overstreet’s family established the combined reward to generate tips and identify the shooter.

Crime Stoppers provided $1,000 toward the reward, which is standard for homicide cases, while Overstreet’s family contributed $29,000 to bring the total reward amount to $30,000. A GoFundMe has also been launched in support of Overstreet’s case.

Local residents reported hearing a single loud noise on the morning of the shooting.

Jaime, a neighbor who lives near the scene but did not want to give his full name, recalled the sound when the gun was fired.

“It’s a big boom! And I was there; I thought my kid dropped something on the floor!” Jaime said.

Jaime noted that emergency personnel arrived shortly after, adding, “Ten minutes after, then here comes the fire truck, the Police Department, all kinds like that.”

Other residents also confirmed hearing only one gunshot during the incident.

Gerald, another local neighbor, described hearing the single shot.

“I just heard the gunshot — how many times — just one, one time!” Gerald said.

Gerald also reported seeing individuals in the area near the time of the shooting.

“I saw like three white guys riding with a scooter; they were yelling somebody out there, but we don’t know who they were yelling at,” Gerald said.

Neighbors told KIRO 7 they were scared for their safety as the shooter remains at large, and several said the level of violence in the area was the reason they did not want to share their full names.
