4.2 magnitude earthquake near Nelson, B.C. felt as far south as Stevens County

A 4.2 magnitude earthquake hit near Nelson, British Columbia, early Thursday morning, with residents in eastern Washington reporting they felt the tremor.
The earthquake struck at 5:31 a.m., roughly 23 miles east-northeast of Nelson, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
Officials measured the earthquake at a depth of roughly 6.2 miles.
As of 9:30 a.m., 89 people reported that they had felt the earthquake, and the quake was felt as far south as Stevens County, according to FOX 13.
USGS determined the earthquake to have a 94% chance of being a “low likelihood of casualties and damage.”
The group also estimated that roughly 119 million people were exposed to the earthquake with only “weak” shaking.
