Seattle’s Rainier Beach shooting leaves man wounded

A shooting in Seattle’s Rainier Beach neighborhood Wednesday evening left a man wounded, and the suspected shooter has not been caught, police said.
Police responded to the 9200 block of 42nd Ave South at approximately 6:30 p.m. after receiving a report of a person shot in the chest. The man was transported to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition.
Police believe the suspect was in a vehicle when they opened fire.
“The circumstances leading up to the shooting are still being investigated by detectives,” Seattle Police Detective Shane Weatherford told KIRO Newsradio Wednesday night. “The suspect fled the scene and was not located.”
SPD’s Gun Violence Reduction Unit will be responsible for the follow up investigation., Weatherford said.
This shooting comes just over a week after Mayor Katie Wilson announced her gun violence reduction plan.
