From saline pools to GLP-1s to halotherapy: Inside Seattle’s $8M Sanctuary

Seattle is getting a sprawling new wellness space, but this will be different from a typical gym or spa.

Glen Swain’s $8 million Sanctuary will be a private performance, recovery, and social club. It will have everything from workout equipment to saline pools to a med spa, and even a 2,000-square-foot co-working space.

Swain, who owns Henry’s Gymnasium, described Sanctuary to MyNorthwest as a place that “transcends fitness” and is hyper-focused on longevity and recovery.

“The idea for Sanctuary was honestly recognizing the fact that in the Pacific Northwest, there really wasn’t something designed to be a one-stop shop for everything,” he said. “And by one-stop shop, I mean you can go and do your fitness, you can go and do Pilates, you can go and do yoga, you can focus on recovery. And certainly, because we’re fortunate enough at Sanctuary to have a med spa, the longevity piece is something that people can focus on.”

What Sanctuary will offer members

The 45,000-square-foot space is designed to have all of the wellness amenities under one roof. Swain said as soon as members walk through the door, there will be a Caffe Vita, along with a smoothie bar and a main bar for those who want to grab a beer or glass of wine.

Members can choose from an extensive selection of strength equipment pulled from places like Arsenal, Gym 80, New Tech, Hammer Strength, Precor, Life Fitness, and Max Pump. There will also be a booty studio, Pilates studio, yoga studio, and a free weights section, along with women’s-only fitness and specialty training studios.

As for recovery, Sanctuary will offer therapies such as cryotherapy, halotherapy, infrared sauna therapy, red light therapy, and more. Swain noted they put emphasis on the pool area, which will include saline mineral pools, Finnish saunas, cold plunges, and jacuzzis.

While Sanctuary will offer high-end amenities, Swain said it’s different from Equinox and other upscale wellness clubs.

“We want the experience to be very personal,” Swain said. “We want everything to be curated about the experience, and I think that we’ve done a good job of that in terms of what we offer. We’re not wanting to compete with an Equinox. We’re not wanting to compete with others. We’re wanting to have something that’s just a step above what you would find with those other operators.”

Sanctuary’s med spa will offer GLP-1s and other treatments

Sanctuary partnered with The Covery Health, a medical spa based in Louisiana, to provide peptide therapies, GLP-1s, hormone replacement therapy, and stem cell therapy, along with laser treatments and Botox. All medical spa treatments will be administered by a nurse practitioner.

Swain is looking forward to giving members a place to unwind as well as work out.

“I’m excited to have an offering that people haven’t had in the Pacific Northwest,” Swain said. “I’m excited about the curated experience for the members of Sanctuary. I’m excited for people to have a place that can be a total reset for them.”

Sanctuary will take over the former 24 Hour Fitness in the Denny Triangle at 1827 Yale Ave.

The club will open April 1, 2027. Membership presales started Tuesday, with tiered options starting at $150 a month and going up to $400 a month.
