Police in Tacoma are investigating the deaths of two men following a shooting in the city’s downtown area.
At 12:27 a.m. Sunday, dispatchers received reports of gunfire near 800 Pacific Ave.
When police arrived, they found two men with life-threatening injuries on Pacific Ave., just north of S. 9th St.
Officers began administering first aid to try to save their lives.
Medics from the Tacoma Fire Department arrived a short time later and pronounced both men dead at the scene.
Detectives and crime scene investigators arrived to gather evidence and search for possible witnesses.
Later, police learned a woman hit by gunfire in that same shooting showed up at a local hospital.
Her injury is not considered life-threatening.
A police spokesperson says the shooting took place on a busy downtown street with plenty of people around.
“It’s a busy, after-hours area there,” said Tacoma Police Spokesperson Shelbie Boyd. “There were people on scene. Whether they saw or heard — I don’t know who saw or heard what, but detectives arrived and they were able to talk to those that came forward.”
Officials say they consider it a homicide investigation.
Police are asking anyone with information about what led to the men’s deaths or who has video from the shooting scene, to call 911 and get in touch with detectives.
