Equifax has agreed to a proposed $100 million settlement to resolve a class-action lawsuit alleging the credit reporting company provided inaccurate credit scores to millions of consumers.

The lawsuit claims Equifax reported lower-than-accurate credit scores for about 4 million people in March and April 2022. Plaintiffs allege the errors may have affected applications for mortgages, auto loans, credit cards, and other forms of credit.

Equifax has denied any wrongdoing but agreed to the proposed settlement.

A final court hearing on the settlement is scheduled for January.

Consumers who believe they may be eligible for compensation can find information about eligibility requirements and how to file a claim here: equifaxbreachsettlement.com.
